Over the last 15 years I have supported individuals and families through work in women’s shelters, healing lodges, community health centers, child welfare/child-wellbeing agencies and mental health organizations. I hold certifications and have experience in children and youth mental health, trauma-informed care, crisis and trauma, mental health and addiction play therapy (CAPT), attachment, family healing, and yoga. I look forward to being of assistance and providing a safe and healing space for children, youth, families and individuals.
My Approach
My approach to therapy is gentle, non-judgmental and holistic – honoring the connection between body, mind and spirit. I believe in a therapeutic relationship between therapist and client that is built on trust, understanding and mutual respect. I hold space where clients can feel safe, heard and empowered to explore their experiences at their own pace. I utilize evidence-based therapeutic methods but can integrate with Indigenous healing practices (if requested). Each person is unique and therefore my practice is person-centered and tailored to meet the needs of the client.

Get to Know Kyla
What made you decide to pursue a career as a therapist?
I’ve always been drawn to the helping profession. I was raised by a long line of community helpers, and from a young age, I understood the importance of showing up for others with care, compassion and responsibility. Becoming a therapist felt like a natural extension of who I am – a way to honour my roots while supporting others on their healing journeys.
What do you enjoy most about what you do?
What I love most is witnessing transformation in the small, quiet moments – when someone feels truly seen, when trust is built or when an individual begins to reconnect with their own inner wisdom. It is an honour to hold space for people’s stories and walk alongside them as they rediscover balance, strength and peace.
What do you think are the biggest misconceptions about mental health?
I believe one of the biggest misconceptions is that asking for help is a sign of weakness. In reality, reaching out takes immense strength and courage. Another misconception is that healing should look or feel a certain way or follow a certain straight path. Healing is non-linear, deeply personal and rooted in relationship. I also think many people do not realize how connected mental health is to the body, spirit and our environment.
What will it be like for clients to work with you as their therapist?
As your therapist, I believe that peace and healing is possible for all even amidst the demands and stress of everyday life. Whether I’m working with an adult, youth or child, my goal is to create a safe, calm and welcoming space where people feel seen, heard, and supported. For adult clients, our work may include talk therapy, mindfulness, or exploring patterns rooted in trauma, attachment or life transitions. For children and youth, I often utilize play therapy, storytelling, art and movement to help them express themselves in a way that feels natural and safe for them to do so.
